







PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Anamaduwa Integrated Water Supply Project (AIWSP) aims to enhance access to safe and reliable drinking water across the Anamaduwa, Kotawehera, Nawagaththegama, and nearby divisions, benefiting approximately 81,741 residents through 16,350 new connections.
THE PROJECT SCOPE
The Plant & Design-Build contract was awarded to UTA SETTAPI ELLIPSE ANAMADUWA (Spain) on November 5, 2014, with the contract commencing on February 7, 2017, for a duration of 36 months plus a 3-month O&M period.

CONTRACT TERMINATION
Project implementation was severely affected by the 2022 economic crisis and the suspension of foreign loan payments, leading to the halt of funding from ICO Bank (Spain) and HNB (Sri Lanka) on May 7, 2022. Consequently, the contractor ceased operations in June 2022 and issued a termination notice on August 31, 2022.
Following legal review, the contract was officially terminated on May 26, 2023, under Clause 15.2 of the General Conditions of Contract. The employer encashed the Advance Bond and assumed responsibility for critical project completion.
