Most of the Development Activities of the region are carried out by the Construction Section of the region .
CONSTRUCTION SECTION ( RSC WS )
Objective of Construction Section
Construction section is responsible for all the activities in relation to construction works and contract administration. The Construction Section plays a major role in the Regional Support Centre, which covers the three Operation & Maintenance (O&M) regions named Dehiwala, Panadura- Horana and Kalutara.
Key Functions of the section
Responsible for the major construction work within the RSC limits.
After the award of contracts, arrange the pre –construction meeting and give the kick-start for the work undertaken by the Contractor.

Carry out the construction activities as per the contract. |
|
Liaison with Road Authorities and other Institutions. |
|
Supervise the works to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the specifications and other related conditions. |
|
Facilitate the contractor to carry out the works and coordinate all the stake holders involved in the works. |
|
Check the contractors’ monthly payment applications and certify them for the payments (as per the checklist). |
|
Valuation of variations and obtaining necessary VO committee approval for the payments accordingly. |
|
Give site instructions to the Contractor according the changes arises time to time. Take over the completed works. |
|
Issue taking over certificate, substantial completion certificate and completion certificate. |
|
Check the final bill and certify the payment as per the contract condition. |
|
Prepare duly signed fixed asset Forms & handover to Finance Division |
|
Check and certify “As built drawings”. |
|
Reconciliation of the materials and update.
|
