During the past years, the organization has considerably expanded its scope of activities.
The NWSDB is presently operating 334 Water Supply Schemes in the island which covers more than 50% of the total population with pipe borne water supply. Currently the organization serves 2.8 Million connections with expected expansion in the years to come. Water is increasingly becoming a most precious resource around the world. We, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), as the prime water supply agency in the country covers around 50% of the population with pipe borne water supply. NWSDB daily produces 2,200 Million Litres treated water per day using various size water treatment plants located around the country.
In order to improve the productivity and reduce the operational costs, we continue to strive on the Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Management, Renewable Energy usage, Technology Management and continuous Training of staff. I am proud that NWSDB has introduced various IT solutions to ease customer service such as NWSDB-app, online payment portals, social media Chatbot to make complaints online, state of the art Call Centre.
Further, we are open to network with international institutes / organisations to share the knowledge that we have acquired over the period of four decades in the water industry and to gain experiences from other players around the globe. For this purpose, NWSDB has established a separate business arm named as Centre for Excellence for Water and Sanitation (Cewas) which is focusing on R&D and Trainings.
Finally, the consumers are earnestly requested to use water prudently as every drop saved can be used to serve the unserved.
