The Internal Audit Division of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board operates under a Deputy General Manager (Internal Audit) who is directly reporting to the Chairman of NWSDB as per Financial Regulation No. 134. It consists of two main sections: Technical Audit and Non-Technical Audit, with an approved staff of 128, including a Chief Engineer, two Civil Engineers, seven Chief Internal Auditors, and nineteen Internal Auditors.

Scope
The scope of the Internal Audit Division consists of conducting internal audit activities of the NWSDB Head Office, Regions, and Projects under its purview. Significant issues are discussed at the audit and management committee, which then appropriately proposes and recommends actions to the director board. The Internal Audit Division of the NWSDB carries out risk-based audit activities to fulfil the responsibility for the prevention, detection, and resolution of fraud and errors. This responsibility is addressed through the implementation and continued monitoring of the effectiveness of the internal control system.

Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance, advisory services and insight designed to protect and add value and improve the efficacy of the finance operation, maintenance of water treatment plants, transmission mains and distribution networks, information Technology, and General Administration of the NWSDB.

Assist the NWSDB in accomplishing its Vision and Mission by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, quality control, and good governance processes.
